Whoever sings, prays twice
— St. Augustine of Hippo

These simple songs are offered as companions for your private communion with the Loving One.

They are also resources for those of you who guide small group gatherings. You may find them useful as you cultivate space for communal prayer or to begin a gathering.

Check back periodically as we will add more songs to the list.

Chant-Songs

Sacred Dance of Life
text inspired by Hafiz's poem. I was created for joy, to dance the sacred dance of life. . .
Awaken!
Awaken! Awaken my soul to see and behold.
One Seeing (text from Meister Eckhart)
The eye with which I see God, is the same with which God sees me. One seeing . . knowing . . loving
Love, Draw Near Us
Love, draw near us. Love, restore us. Gather us under your wings.
In Holy Silence
In holy silence we gather now.
Womb of Mercy
Womb of Mercy, heal our broken hearts. Womb of Mercy calm our fears.
Hear the Prayers of Our Hearts
Hear the prayers of our hearts as we cry out to you for healing, for justice, for peace in our world
In the Stillness
In the stillness, in the quiet, I can hear the voice of Love.
Hear My Prayer
Hear my prayer, O Loving One.

Some invitations:

  1. You’ll find the text for each chant-song under the title.

  2. Change the pronouns to fit your use - “our” to “my.” Choose a name for the Holy One that speaks to your soul.

  3. Don’t determine where it will end; how many times you will sing it. Allow the song to draw you deeper into a time of prayer and communion. Sing it over and over until it naturally fades away.

  4. Consider moving your body as you sing - uniting body and voice into an embodied prayer. Don’t overthink it, simply allow your body to move as it feels led.

  5. Expand the chant by adding your own words.

Sing and make music from your heart.
